Sum Sum Summertime

The sun is shining and summer time is here. We are excited to be able to go to the pool these days. Titus loves loves loves the water. He can put his head under and it doesn't bother him a bit. He loves to play at the pool where the water shoots up and sprays him. We are just working hard to avoid a sunburn. Unfortunately I was so worried about him burning, I forgot about myself and fried my back to crispy. Luckily it won't show in my dress for Kellen's wedding. Speaking of, Kellen, my brother, is getting married on Saturday. Titus will be one of the ring bearers. He is going to be awfully darn cute in his little suit. We have also had some fun days at the park too. It is crazy how fast he is growing. He is beginning to really enjoy playing outside and swining on the swings.

He is still not crawling, but he's getting awfully close. He will move to his knees and then sit back down which will scoot him across the room. So, he is officially into everything and I spend a lot of time taking things away and telling him "No No, yucky...dangerous...not for babies..." His little personality is coming out when you take things away from him and he is not happy. But he's still cute.

Last week we had a rough week. In the middle of the night on Wednesday I noticed that Titus was not using his right arm normally, so Thursday morning we took him the the doctor and he had dislocated his elbow. It didn't seem to cause him too much pain, but he wouldn't use the arm. We think it happened when he was walking along and feel so we grabbed his arm to catch him, but we're not sure. It was pretty upsetting, but apparently fairly common.

Changes

Titus is increasingly active, which explains why I haven't blogged in quite some time. He is growing so fast and is officially into everything. He is not quite crawling, but he's scooting and rolling around. He is working really hard at pulling up on the furniture and can easily get pulled up onto his knees. He has learned to clap and blow kisses and Daddy is working on teaching him TOUCHDOWN!

Titus is going crazy eating table food. So far we haven't found a food he will not eat. He loves to gnaw on a stalk of brocoli. He also enjoys black beans, pears and yogurt. He has got the pincer grasp down and loves to self feed.

We've got a tough guy on our hands. The other day he was playing with his cousin Carson, and he chucked a soccer ball at Titus' head and he didn't even flinch. He just loves to watch the big kids play and he loves to play with other babies. He hates it when his mommy or daddy leaves the room and he loves to hold your fingers and walk all over the place.

We are having such a great time watching Titus grow and change. We are looking forward to summer and pool time.

7 months already.

Fun at the park on a nice spring day.
Titus and Carson loving on each other. Notice the matching outfits. We were going for some cute photos, but Carson would have nothing to do with it, but we got this which is super cute too.

Titus in his sunglasses. What a cutie.

Time flies when you're having fun. Six months has come and gone so fast. Titus is now almost 7 months old. He is changing so fast these days. He is finally taking to eating solid foods. He wasn't to sure about them for a while. He really likes sweet potato, banana, peas, and any of hte above mixed with avocado. He loves to have some apple in the mesh feeder and anything he can feed himself. This week he started scooting around on the floor and he got up on all fours. I dont' know what I am going to do when he can move. I'm not sure I'm ready. He has also found his voice. He likes to jabber and say, da da da da da. I keep telling him, no ma ma ma ma, but he won't listen. Oma says O ma ma ma, but he won't do that either;) We also felt the first tooth yesterday. He was chewing on my hand and there was a little sharp beginnings of a tooth. Maybe all the "teething" will finally break for a while? We can hope. We are just really enjoying this age. He is so fun and so smiley. His smiles are good medicine. He has made a few peoples days with his sweet smiles and it does my heart good when this happens.

Now, the Mother of the Year award goes to....ME! Yeah, I didn't have such a great day in the mothering department. First of all, I was lifting Titus to look out the window of the church and smack, he hit his head on the window. It didn't seem to phase him, but I felt like a dork. Then, we come home, and I have to give him a quick bath because his diaper exploded all over. Well, he wasn't too happy about any of this, and as I was bathing him he was flailing and slipping all over the sink. Well, he slipped and I didn't have a good enough grip on him and he smacked his head on the sink. This one did phase him and we had tears, from both of us. I felt so bad and I was really worried about him. I called Jeremiah and he just told me if it was a concussion they couldn't do anything about it anyway. Thanks dad, that's helpful. Well, he seems fine and has been his normal self the rest of the day.

Fun Fun 6 months

Six months is such a fun age. Titus is so into everything. He watches everything that is going on around him and he wants to be involved in everything. He is such a happy boy. Everybody in the nursery comments on what a smiley baby he is, and boy is he. He will smile at just about anything. He does this cute little scrunch up his nose thing when he gets really happy and kind of snorts. He is sitting up now. He started sitting up about 2 weeks before he turned 6 months. He loves to sit ont he floor and play with is toys. In the last week or so, he has started really jabbering. He is starting to put 2 vowel sounds together and he has learned to screech. Cute the first time, now, not so cute. He is also very interested in faces. He tries to take off your nose and your mouth, which can be ouchy if his nails aren't clipped. I have a few scratches on my face to prove it.

Last week started feeding him solid food. He had oatmeal first. He made a funny gagging face when he ate it the first time. He wasn't too interested in that, but then he had bananas. YUMMM-O. He loved them. He has also had avocado (he thinks it's ok, but yummy if mixed with bananas), sweet potatoes, and pears (which he also loves). He does ok eating, but he really prefers mommy's milk to any solid food.

Titus got to meet our friends Jordan, Charlotte and Caedmon for the first time this week. What a blessing it was to see such great friends. Just wish we would have had more time together.

We're having fun and wishing spring was here. We can't wait to go out and play more often.

I was just reminiscing today. It was a year ago at this time that Megan and I began sharing the good news, that God had blessed us with a child. The last six months we've been able to share the consummated blessing, Titus, through this blog and in person. I could have never fathomed the challenge of parenting a year ago, but I also could not imagine the depth of love a father can have for a son. Nothing completes a day like coming home to "smiles for daddy."

I'm thankful for a helper (Megan) who's new life purpose is to raise our son "to grow in wisdom, and stature, and in favor with God and man." Kudos on her efforts that often leave her spent. Thanks also to all of our family and friends who have been praying with us and for us for Titus ever since we shared the news last February! What a difference a year makes. We'll never forget it.

Titus is almost 6 months old. I don't know where the time has gone. He is getting so big. This last week We try to take pictures of it, but we have to be fast because the flash knocks him over! It's so funny. He loves to play in his excersaucer, walker and jumperoo. No more laying down for this big boy, that's for babies. I've been working on making baby food for when we start feeding him. I've made sweet potatoes, pears, apples, and avocados. i really wanted to wait until 6 months to start any solids, but I was convinced to try cereal this last week (what's 9 days, right?) Titus had oatmeal (homeade) and wasn't real sure what`to do with it. He did this fake gagging thing that was so funny. I laughed, because in a year we would not think the fake gagging is so funny. He's getting a little better with, but he's still not real sure. We're anxiously awaiting spring!

Well, it's been a while since I've posted. We've been staying pretty busy. We started a playgroup on Friday mornings at the church and we have a Bible study on Wednesday mornings. It is so nice to have the opportunity to meet other moms. Titus also loves watching the big kids play.
Titus is getting so big. He is doing so many new things. He's started giggling, making lotf of new sounds and rolling around quite a bit. He's getting so big. He, however, has not been sleeping so well. He's so busy during the day watching all the cool things this world has to offer that he doesn't have time to eat, so he squeezes all of it in during the night. Fine for him, but not so much for mommy and daddy. We're working on that. I hope you enjoy the picutres I've attached, as well as the video. Love you all.

Happy New Year

sorry I added this pic first and I can't get it to delete, so I guess you get 2 for 1=)

Well this is a little late, but Happy New Year. What a difference a year makes. This time last year we had just found out we were preganant. Now, we have a 4 month old. It's hard to believe how much one little tiny person can change your life. New Year's Eve we had a party at the church with the youth group. Titus and I went up for a while, but then we came home to go tobed. A year ago, I would have been so bumed if I was home alone on New Year's Eve, in bed before midnight, but not this year.

Titus continues to change daily. He was sleeping pretty well, but has a few setbacks recently. He is certainly teething, which I think plays into the restless sleep. Also, he has started to roll around. He consistently rolls from side to side and has rolled from his back to his tummy a few times. He no longer stays put. He is getting so much personality. He smiles all the time and he has even let out a few giggles. He's also starting to jabber at himself when he is playing. He no longer just cries, and it is so nice. He goes for his 4 month checkup tomorrow, so I will update with weight and length then. Poor baby has to get his shots. Last time, he handled it pretty well, so hopefully it'll be ok this time too.

Hope this new year finds you all well. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
